The Client
St John’s Innovation Centre, Cambridge, provides early-stage knowledge-based companies with the business advice, strategic consultancy and flexible accommodation. It was the first innovation centre of its kind in Europe and has become world-renowned for its success as a business incubator.
As an existing tenant of St John’s Innovation Centre, Modern Networks Cambridge office (formerly Bridge Fibre), had made great strides in developing its business to include competitive, robust and secure internet services to multi-tenanted premises. It therefore made perfect sense that St John’s Innovation Centre should be the first business centre to take our new connectivity service.
Our Connectivity Solution
We worked closely with the management team at St John’s to tailor a service that meet the requirements of their tenants and established a business-model which provided additional income for the centre itself.
We wanted to provide better connectivity through the centre, but with an approachable and flexible attitude. By eliminating the need for long annual contracts and reducing setup costs, this allowed tenants to easily change services as their business grew and developed. What followed was a very modern, secure, Ethernet fibre network around the entire centre, with backhaul being provided by a leading international carrier in the form of Telstra Networks, providing excellent resilience and fast internet speeds, which tenants at the centre had not experienced before.
Continuing Works
Since improving internet services at St John’s Innovation Centre, we have now moved to the Jeffreys building, 20 metres from St John’s, and are rolling out its network to surrounding areas including The Vitrum, Platinum and Jeffreys buildings.
