Modern Networks was proud to sponsor its client, CBRE, in their annual charity bike ride this year. On Thursday 22nd May, the team of cyclists set off from Madrid, Spain to pedal the 800km to Lisbon, Portugal. The five day challenge was in aid of ‘Plan International’ and has currently raised over £62,000 (and counting!) for the charity to fund a ground-breaking education programme with some of the world’s poorest children in Sierra Leone.
CBRE is backing a €7.4 million international community investment programme to help provide an education to more than 135,000 children, particularly girls in Sierra Leone which will provide bursaries, create better school facilities, offer vocational training for female teachers and assistants, provide support for children with disabilities and improve the quality of teaching across 780 schools across five districts of Sierra Leone.
Mike Strong, Executive Chairman of CBRE in EMEA commented ahead of the event:
“We’re delighted that over 100 colleagues have risen to the challenge, and are gearing up for this 800km charity cycle challenge. Whilst the ride will of course be a challenge for everyone taking part, we are mindful of the bigger challenge facing children every day who live in Sierra Leone, and that’s why funds from this year’s event will support our work with Plan International to help bring about change for some of the world’s poorest children.”
The team was made up of CBRE employees, clients and partners and we at Modern Networks would like to congratulate everyone in achieving this fantastic result!
